The Campbell, Calif.-based security vendor said Chicago-based Thoma Bravo will purchase the company for $27.55 per share, or 22.5 percent higher than Barracuda’s average trading price of $22.49 in the 10 days leading up to the deal. Barracuda’s stock is up $3.73 (15.75%) to $27.42 per share in pre-market trading Monday.”
November 17, 2017- “A recent survey of 300 IT decision makers, conducted by research firm Vanson Bourne on behalf of Barracuda Networks, found that 44 percent of the respondents’ IT infrastructure is now on a public cloud. July 12, 2017- “Barracuda Networks (CUDA) continues to gain momentum with managed services providers (MSPs), and much of the credit involves the security company’s Intronis business unit, according to CEO BJ Jenkins. “The MSP route to market is [an] area where we continue to invest to make solid progress,” Jenkins said during an earnings call earlier this week. “We achieved another quarter of record billings and now have 2,400 partners on the Intronis platform.””

June 19, 2017- “It’s sometimes hard for an MSP to start the discussion about the value of the IT security services they provide. WannaCry, the latest widespread ransomware variant, offers the perfect conversation starter. WannaCry has infected hundreds of thousands of systems in just a few weeks, encrypting files and holding them for ransom. Using a tool developed by the NSA, WannaCry exploited a Microsoft Windows vulnerability in the implementation of the Server Message Block protocol. Although Microsoft issued a patch in March 2017, many systems were still unprotected when WannaCry first appeared two months later on May 12, 2017.”

November 18, 2016-“On October 21, 2016, a massive distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack caused disruptions to Internet activity throughout the U.S. Exploiting millions of devices connected to the Internet, the Mirai botnet attacked Dyn, a domain name service (DNS) provider in New Hampshire. The attack flooded Dyn with massive amounts of traffic and overwhelmed the DNS provider’s systems. Dyn reported that some of its data centers experienced packet flow bursts 40 to 50 times higher than normal, even with mitigation solutions in place. It’s possible the actual magnitude of the attack was as high as 1.2 Tbps.”
